Founded in 1991 and based in Jihlava, Czech Republic, the company took over optical fiber production from the former state-owned enterprise TESLA. From 1996 to 2011, OPTOKON served as the main development center for the American company Methode Electronics, which significantly expanded its expertise and international reach.

Development and Innovation
The core of the group remains the parent company, OPTOKON, a.s., located in Jihlava. It serves as the main development center and focuses on two key areas:
- Applied Development – based in Prague, Czech Republic
- System Development – based at the Jihlava headquarters
Development is supported by OPTOKON’s accredited Testing Division, which provides mechanical tests, thermal resistance testing, and EMC testing in line with MIL-STD-461G standards in a semi-anechoic chamber.
The Jihlava location also includes a modern technology center with advanced CNC machines and 3D additive manufacturing. This allows for rapid prototyping and small-series production of specialized optoelectronic components.
