Cyber security of optical communication systems

Project Number: FW10010446
Sources of funding:
Technology Agency of the Czech Republic – 10th public tender – Program for the Support of Applied Research, Experimental Development TREND, subprogram 1
Project duration: 01/2024-12/2025
Project participants: OPTOKON, a.s., Brno University of Technology
Project objective:
The objective of the project is to increase the resilience and cybersecurity of optical cable systems. The project focuses on the development of a communication system with an advanced method for real-time detection of optical cable interference based on the analysis of changes in the impedance and attenuation of the optical cable. At the same time, the project proposes a new generation of power supplies for optical communication systems that will ensure increased resistance to interference and reduced emissions, thereby reducing the risk of a possible DoS (denial of service) attack. The results of the project will set a new standard in the field of optical communication cable system resilience and thus significantly contribute to increasing the cybersecurity of these systems.
